Moving your FrameForge to a new computer

If you are retiring a computer and want to move FrameForge to a new one, you should do the following:

Backup Files and Non-Standard Object/Textures

  1. Open a project that you'll want to move to the new computer and go to the File Menu, choose Export... then Non-standard Objects & Textures.  If the open file uses any, it will allow you to make a special CPACK file containing any nonstandard FrameForge Objects or textures needed to open that file, otherwise it will tell you that this function is unneeded.
  2. Repeat step #1 for each previz file you want to move.
  3. Make sure that all Previz Files and their associated .CPacks are backed up.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE:  If you are moving from a Windows PC to a Mac or vice-versa, you should ALSO save each Previz in a Cross-Platform Format by opening them in your current installation, choosing SAVE AS from the File Menu and specifying one of the cross-platform formats.

Uninstall FrameForge from your old computer

Uninstalling has two important functions, and we highly recommend you use the Uninstall program rather than simply deleting the relevant folders/directories off your hard drive. This is because the uninstall program will both allow you to chose which FrameForge Storyboard Studio files and settings you wish to remove from your hard drive, and even more importantly because it will restore an Installation credit to the program’s online database for later reuse when you need to install it onto another computer.

Windows Uninstall

  1. Make sure you’re connected to the Internet.
  2. Click the Start Button
  3. Navigate to FrameForge Storyboard Studio in the list of programs
  4. Choose Uninstall FrameForge Storyboard Studio

MacOS Uninstall

  1. Make sure you’re connected to the Internet.
  2. Navigate to your FrameForge Storyboard Studio application folder (typically found in the Application’s folder inside your user folder).
  3. Launch the Uninstall Application you will find there.

You can then choose whether you want to just devalidate it or remove it entirely.

Install FrameForge on your new computer

Using your original FrameForge Setup files, install FrameForge on your new computer, install any expansion packs then then any .CPACKS generated in the first step.  Copy in your previz files and you should be off to the races!
